IDF in in allegro will never move objects that have the property
IDF_OWNER set to ECAD (not having this property set counts as
IDF_OWNER=ECAD).
Coordinate systems are key for this transfer to work properly. Make sure
the SolidWorks guy uses the same coordinate systems on export.
What is the ownership property set to in the emn file?
Check out the algroidf.pdf file in the online doc for mappings and
rules.

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] IDF IN problem
This is for anyone that uses Import-idf in Allegro. Presently we
import idf placement and board outline
data from SolidWorks. I'd like to see if anyone has seen a
problem reading in placement files and having
components NOT move if the mechanical data wants it to? We have
a board with two LED's placed using
the wrong orientation, the lens of the LED facing inboard. The
orientation and origin of the part both agree
in the mech model and in the Allegro footprint. After reading
the .emn file into the board to see if it corrects
the orientation of the LED it DOES NOT not move, still facing
inboard. If I manually move the part a few mils away
or delete the part and re-read the same identical .emn file into
the board it places the part in the proper
location and proper orientation facing outboard. I'm not quite
sure at what point the inboard orientation happened
and don't understand why reading in the same .emn file results
in two different orientations. After looking at
the .emn file we noticed that the orientation of the part is at
-90.....As Allegro always show deg in positive
increments is it possible that this could be a problem? Has
anyone else seen this happen?
thanks,
