We now select the non-vectorized text option when plotting pdf's
I found the font: Arial, height 100%  width 75% is pretty close to
allegro font size.
This makes the reference designators searchable on the pdf assembly
drawings.
Just another idea that all of you probably know about....

Why not give them the .brd file and a copy of the Cadence Allegro Free Viewer?

Using 15.2 
Our assembly person is having difficulty finding parts on the more dense 
boards. 
Can I get your input on a gerber viewer tool that is free and easy to use for 
an assembly person to find parts on the board?
