I thought about putting these shapes on an already defined subclass (package
geometry - display_top) then I wouldn't
Have to worry when mirroring. As Jean said just remember to turn it on in
your film files for the paste layer. Also I built the pastemask_top and
pastemask_bottom into the package symbol so that when I bring the part into
the board the two subclasses will automatically be added at the board level
thus eliminating the worry to manually add it. I will try a few of the
suggestions and check the mirroring aspect and share anything I find out.

Experience says that if you define a layer called anything_top it will
mirror to anything_bottom if you mirror the part BUT only if you've defined
that layer on your board. If you place the part mirrored to start with,
though, it'll create the subclass for you. Just remember to turn on that
subclass in your film control records, though, or you've wasted your time!

This has recently come up for discussion on the forum and I believe no
consensus was reached. I suggest that you experiment with it and see what
results you get. Add a paste bottom to the package geometry and try
mirroring it. It cannot hurt to try. I have used
board_geometry>pastemask_top to do mine and I think it worked although I am
not sure I have ever mirrored one of those parts. Give it a shot and let us
know how it works for you. We love hearing from people who try stuff!
