What I've done is to create the round flash the width of the slot, then cut
it in half to stretch to the correct length and merge the shapes.  Works
quite well and is pretty fast.

Andrew,
        In the padstack editor you can specify an oblong thermal, but that
is a solid pad, right?  If you want to have a real thermal flash you have to
draw the flash in the flash symbol editor.  I'm assuming that this is what
you mean when you say the gerber doesn't generate properly.

        I know that before allegro added the circular flash symbol generator
to the flash symbol editor that there were skill scripts out there to do it.

        I was sort of hoping for a pointer to such a script.

Actually, in the padstack editor, you have the option to create an oval
thermal, but I can't get mine to generate properly in Gerber. 
Allegro's flash symbol generator will only make circles, but you can
manually draw you shape in the flash symbol editor. Add it as a flash in the
thermal section of your padstack and you're set.

Is there a way to have Allegro build a thermal for a slot?  It seems like
the thermal generation stuff only generates circles.
