Let me guess: you widh to deselct some items before redrding the clipboard?

For this (and generaly for all kind of selections) you have tu use the 
right clic->temp group.
If you select something unwanteded, just kepp ctrl key pressed will 
cliking on the entity.

Hope this was what you where looking for.
