I am sure there is a thousand ways to do what you want. We are using the
variant editor, which you access from the project manager. It gives the
ability to create build specific BOMs, Schematics, and Assembly Drawings. What
you want to do is tag the component with the DNI (Do Not Stuff) property.
There is a tutorial under the cadence folder that will show you how this is
done.

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Do Not Populate ?
Hello Everyone,
First off we are using 14.2(s132) on WIN2000 (Concept HDL and Allegro
Designer). My boss asked a question about something I'm not very familiar with
so I thought I would see how the rest of the world handles it. What property
do you attach to the Concept HDL schematic for a do-not-populate part? Does
this automatically transfer over to Allegro? They don't want it showing up in
the BOM nor any pick-n-place data. Thanks for any help.
