[PCB_FORUM] Re: Copper balancing "thieving dots"

Scrapping board? Hardly. I've routinely worked with fab houses on most all
of these issues, and have often times picked up boards at the fab. I've
been to one place that the shipping person would place the boards on the
table prior to shipping and would bend them around to 'flatten' them. To
spec? I don't know. The boards would end up getting mounted to a frame, so
I didn't care. Most often the land patterns have so much overkill that you
can drive over boards and it won't hurt them. That was some time ago
though.

I've also worked at a Defense contractor who's board would ALWAYS go thru
recieving inspection, and all they ever seemed to catch were simple errors
on the fab prints (i.e. "the print says it should be .008" +/-.001"
diectric, but the boards are coming in .0072", is that ok?").

What I mean to say is, if you work these details out ahead of the game (at
the beginning of the layout stage), you'll be so much better off. Never
can beat a second set of eyes looking over details.

Good day.

(Yes, I've done sequential lam boards, and know the problems you detailed.
Still I haven't EVER added plating/theiving patterns.)
