[PCB_FORUM] Re: Concept Bus Name, Bus Tap

Thanks Helen.
I was under the impression that The Bus Name Ddialog box was to attach the Name<7.. 0>  to the single thick bus wire.
Why would you draw the 8 wires, drag the bus name across as you describe.

Looks like I have to assign "netname" NOT "Busname", then add 1st tap and wire, copy (x7) as group, then add bus tap values.
Only thing worth using pull-down for is assign bus tap vales (only if they are in order) 7..0 or 0..7.

This is what I end up with.

This is what I want to have:

Thanks again for your feedback.

Mark,

To use "Bus name " dialog box draw 8 wires for <7.. 0>, click above top most and below bottom. You have one wire so it is temp<7>.

This method is to attach each wire to pin. If you need bus: draw a wire > name it  Name<7.. 0> , wire will be changed to thick automatically. Now you can use Wire > Bus Tap clicking on pin, then on thick wire. Then you will use Wire > Bus Tap Values dialog and click above and below taps.

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Concept Bus Name, Bus Tap

Hello group,
We are forced to manually add a bus name as a signame and manually place a bus tap because of problems with the wire pull-down menu.
(Concept v.15.1)
Are you experiencing the same problems?

Problem 1.
When selecting Wire / Bus name pulldown, setting name, MSB, LSB as shown below:

This is what I get after attaching to a wire. Where is the <7..0>???

Problem 2: I set Tools / Options / Graphics Tab as shown below, but the wire does not display "heavy".

Problem 3: We prefer TAP instead of CTAP in Cadence's "STANDARD" library. Which we normally place manually. (see below)
If I select TAP for default Tap Symbol above, it does NOT come in because the origin is not on the pin to attach to the selected bus wire. It is in the center of the part. Also the second pin is NOT on the same "X" axis.

here is the message I get when adding TAP instead of CTAP:

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
