mark,
I wouldn't use it, because I'm an everyday user, and I find typing the
commands far easier
but I do see your point for the casual user.
I use angled taps.
when you add a signame that contains <n..m> you get auto thickness on the
resulting wire... I like that too

Thanks Bill,
That is the same method we use.
So...Would you use the pull-down if it worked? No need to remember <15..0>
Not a big deal for us daily users, but drives occasional users crazy.
The bus name, MSB and LSB dialog box should produce the correct syntax but
does not. (at least in v15.1)
Then it would automatically change the wire to "thick" if set up in
options.
Do you use the round "CTAP" or the angled "TAP" from the standard library.
To use it as a tap from the pulldown, it needs the origin at the pin which
connects to the bus wire, but it is in the center set by Cadence.(which we
are going to modify).
Thanks for your input,
Mark

mark,
I don't use the wire pulldown menu... I use the console which you have
to enable from the view menu .If I have an 8 bit bus, I add 1 wire, (using
wir command) attach a TAP to it (using add tap command), select the wire and
the tap, copy it 7 times with the same increment using the (copy (GroupName)
7 command)
Then I give the bustap 0..7 command, and draw a line with the mouse,
starting at the top tap and dragging down thru the bottom tap.
the taps get auto numbered 0..7
I attach a wire to all the taps on the bus side, and then add a signame
to that buswire... bus<0..7>.
hope this helps

Does anyone use the Wire / Bus Name menu to define bus names or to add
bus taps?
Or does everyone do it manually..like us?

Hello group,
We are forced to manually add a bus name as a signame and manually
place a bus tap because of problems with the wire pull-down menu.
(Concept v.15.1)
Are you experiencing the same problems?
Problem 1.
When selecting Wire / Bus name pulldown, setting name, MSB, LSB as
shown below:
This is what I get after attaching to a wire. Where is the <7..0>???
Problem 2: I set Tools / Options / Graphics Tab as shown below, but
the wire does not display "heavy".
Problem 3: We prefer TAP instead of CTAP in Cadence's "STANDARD"
library. Which we normally place manually. (see below)
If I select TAP for default Tap Symbol above, it does NOT come in
because the origin is not on the pin to attach to the selected bus wire. It
is in the center of the part. Also the second pin is NOT on the same "X"
axis.
here is the message I get when adding TAP instead of CTAP:
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
