Conference Importance: High All I can say is once the abstract details and panel members are listed on the web site it will be an easier sell. I apologize that information is not available yet and it is on the top of our list to make it available as soon as possible. Conference Well I would assume it does but when one presents the conference itinerary to his manager as justification for the conference and is primarily an allegro tool user and that's what the manager knows how is he / she suppose to know so that they can justify the expense / time. I still have no budget for this and am still planning as of this point on coming but I will not be able to come if my management declares I must use vacation time because they can not justify that it is indeed work related. In the past hey have always allowed me to go and not use vacation time as I was a conference planner (board member) and that was negotiated in from hire point, now that I am not a board member steering committee member or whatever were calling it these days that is no longer true. I have showed my manager the schedule and am trying to block out the time and they don't believe that there are 4 working days of Allegro/OrCAD material in the schedule from what they can see. There fore it be comes non work related accept for the day I do my paper, which Gopi has told me he will be presenting solely. -----Original Message----- From: Michael.Catrambone@xxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Michael.Catrambone@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, July 07, 2005 11:28 AM To: icu-pcb-forum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Re: CDNLive! Conference Carl, The abstracts / panel members are not accessible at this point via the web schedule. We are working on getting the information up on the web site to assist in your decisions. As far as the tech panel names not having Allegro in the title does not mean it is something not worth attending. Basically, the PCB Design Tech panel covers Allegro PCB Editor, Design Entry, Router and SI including CM. The other tech panel labeled IC/Package Co-Design will cover Allegro Package Designer, SI and AMS Simulator. Conference Has anyone figured out how you can even see what the abstracts are some of the titles there mean absolutely nothing to me I would like to see all the information available before making any decisions. Especially on the roadmaps and tech panels where the word Allegro is completely missing from the titles! -----Original Message----- From: Bye, Randy W [mailto:Randy.Bye@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, July 07, 2005 10:00 AM To: icu-pcb-forum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Re: CDNLive! Conference You should also know that the 4 of us, Charlie, Andy, Carl, myself all volunteered to work on the new CDNLive steering committee, but our offer was turned down by the Cadence CDNLive management team. Conference I'd also like to add to that the former cadence champions Ed Hickey, Steve Durrill, and Dennis Rockwood were not involved in the organization of this years CDN live, and I should probably just stop right here with that said. -----Original Message----- From: Kulik, Andreas [mailto:akulik@xxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, July 07, 2005 7:50 AM To: icu-pcb-forum@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Re: CDNLive! Conference Hi George, I have to stick up for the "former" ICU PCB SIG members (Charlie Davies, Randy Bye, Carl Musetti and myself). We have not been involved with the organization of CDNLive and this years PCB content. In addition, we are not members of the new Steering Committee that organizes this event. Regards Andy PS: In case some people on this forum are interested in seeing some pretty cool PDM/PLM stuff just stop by at the Vendor Fair/ Exhibits... Conference I have just finished looking over the schedule for the upcoming CDNLive! conference. Am I the only one disappointed in the new "look and feel" of this event? There are maybe 10 hours of things that are of use to PCB designers, 14 if I hang on until Thursday afternoon. This is compared to ~60 hours at the last conference. This is just what I hoped wasn't going to happen, but I guess I should have known better. It's what I have come to expect from Cadence and their total lack of interest in anything other than IC design. And thanks HAVE to go out to whoever championed this scheme to the PCB SIG officers. The results show how much thought and time went into it, they are to be commended. I am supposed to convince my manager to pay for me to send me to this farce and keep me down there for 4 days so I can attend 14 hours of sessions. Right -- George Patrick Tektronix, Inc.
