we had dongle hardware locks. By they way, we had kept up the maintenance fees
so in my book
there really shouldn't have been a problem.
And yes,I did see RED dots regarding the money issue.
Yes you are correct, they will probably refuse support to the new owner.
The whole scenario revolves around the meaning of Purchase and Leasing. Which is
technically what is done with the Allegro software. It is leased I think.
Anyway, enough about that. I don't want to get kicked off this site for Cadence
bashing.
I'll email you directly if I find out what the outcome was if that is ok with
you.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your input.

Well, there may be fine print stating that...but that doesn't make it legal
or illegal.
I assume you had networked licenses? They certainly can't prevent anyone
from selling a seat that uses a hardware lock, with a non-expiring license
file. They can refuse support to the new owner if they want...but that's a
different story.

I'm looking for the Cadence license agreement, but I don't find it in the
software anywhere. I certainly didn't sign one when I bought the software.

That's pretty obnoxious. Anyone who has that kind of an attitude should be
put out to dry.

If you do find out what happened, I'd be interested.
I'm not thinking of selling mine, I'm just curious what the position is.

Austin
