[PCB_FORUM] Re: Anyone know what Cadence's position is on sel ling the software to someone else?

We went through a similar set of issues when our previous owner sold the
company to Bausch & Lomb.

It took some finagling and a few interesting telephone calls and emails, but
the licenses still work and Cadence now acknowledges Bausch & Lomb as the
licensee.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your input.

Well, there may be fine print stating that...but that doesn't make it legal
or illegal.

I assume you had networked licenses? They certainly can't prevent anyone
from selling a seat that uses a hardware lock, with a non-expiring license
file. They can refuse support to the new owner if they want...but that's a
different story.

I'm looking for the Cadence license agreement, but I don't find it in the
software anywhere. I certainly didn't sign one when I bought the software.

That's pretty obnoxious. Anyone who has that kind of an attitude should be
put out to dry.

If you do find out what happened, I'd be interested.

I'm not thinking of selling mine, I'm just curious what the position is.

Austin
