[PCB_FORUM] Re: Anyone install v16 on W2k? VISTA subquestion

I am evaluating Vista now.
My opinion so far: I am generally a windows person, but I would rather
go to Linux than Vista.
We have had MANY Vista issues, from our PDM system not working on our
laptops to the inability to get drivers for the interface cards that
allow our high-end scopes to run windows as an OS.
The virtual Vista I am testing with works about 10X slower than the
virtual XP I have used to benchmark with. Kinda like watching paint
dry.
Last I heard, you could still order XP on a new system from many
vendors, but you might have a harder time going to your local
mass-volume store (i.e. Best Buy) and getting one. MS has allowed OEMs
(such as my employer) to continue to load XP using a Vista license codes
for at least another year.

Anyone running Vista? I am much temped to buy a new computer, but
everything is vista... and I am wondering about all my old software...
Allegro and AutoCAD especially. But also Corel Draw and others... some
of which are long out of support.

Hi,
The Cadence web site says V16 only supports XP and Vista...so I am
curious
if anyone here has tried it on W2k successfully?
Regards,
Austin
