[PCB_FORUM] Re: Allegro/Concept Menu Modification

Andrew,

I have been customizing the Allegro menu for years. I think you're making it
out to be harder than it has to be (that is unless things have changed
drastically in 16.2, which I've only used for a short contract job, been
laid-off since Nov '08).

I copy the menu file to my "pcbenv" directory (where Allegro will find and load
it), then add my custom section at the end. I have this custom section also in
the pcbenv directory, named "my.men".

When you load the latest (greatest?) version of Allegro, you will then copy the
menu file to your pcbenv directory, add the contents of your custom section
file and you're good to go. Seems easy enough to me, not sure why you would
need a script to do this.

Good luck however you do it!

Regards,
Gary

  Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Allegro/Concept Menu Modification

  All,

We have just started adding custom menus to Allegro and Concept; our initial
approach has been to copy the standard menu file and add our own entries, but
that seems a little dangerous due to the possibility of overwriting any new
stuff added by Cadence.

Asking around, it appears that there is a script out there that can be used
to construct a menu file on the fly, appending custom entries to the current
Cadence menu; does such a script exist and, if so, is it available?

  Thanks!
