Hi Richard,
IDF imports into Pro/E (aka Wildfire 2) can take a while especially if
the import has to model non existing components. But there might be
other reason depending on the type and amount of data.
Contact me offline with the PTC Customer call number you received. I'll
be glad to help.
Andy

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] Allegro and Wildfire2
Hi all
We recently migrated from Pro/E 2001 to Wildfire2 for our IDF
import/export.
There are definitely performance problems when importing IDF
files from Allegro. (ie, it's a Wildfire problem.) It can take the
good part of one hour to import. Has anyone else witnessed this? It
was magnitudes better in Pro/E.
We always filter all vias and we are sometimes forced to delete
smaller components, although this is not desirable as we like a full
mechanical model. Component counts are usually a few thousand, say
3000-5000.
We are going through PTC support as well, but any other pointers
would be great.
Cheers,
Richard
