Position Description - Sr. PCB Designer - Physio-Control a division of
Medtronic.  Redmond, WA.  www.medtronic.com requisition # 60118 

Under minimum supervision and within tight schedules, designs and
documents high density, highly complex multilayer printed circuits, flex
circuits, and accompanying drawings within all applicable design
guidelines. Additionally prepares documentation for mechanical
descriptions of test fixtures and test systems. 
Position Responsibilities 

        1. Enter data required for printed circuit design revisions or
simple printed circuits including mechanical, board outline, void areas,
targets, schematic nodes, part shaper, hole or pad updates, special line
widths, unique new requirements, etc.
        2. Locate various parts observing part height restrictions,
electrical sensitivity, inner layers, off-board access, off-board
adjustment, connector placement, and other constraints.
        3. Connect circuits using current computer aided design
practices.  Monitor flow solder limitations, manufacturability
improvements, and net list vs schematic continuity.  Perform detailed
layout tolerance analyses.
        4. Complete printed circuit board artwork, drill and trim,
assembly, silk screen, panelizing, parts lists, and schematic drawings
describing a printed circuit or flex circuit.
        5. Resolve design problems by consulting with computer aided
design vendor representative, other senior printed circuit designers or
design supervisor.
        6. Use computer tools to document fixtures and test systems
including mechanical descriptions and text as appropriate.
        7. Work with engineers, technicians, supervisor and outside
vendors to understand projects and negotiate solutions to problems.
        8. Report status of all assigned drawings to supervisor.
Responsible for time-to-complete estimates for all assigned drawings.
        9. Perform other related duties as required. 

Basic Qualifications 

        * Associate degree or equivalent experience
        * 4 years' drafting/design experience for an electronics firm
        * 3 years' recent experience using Cadence Allegro 

Desired/Preferred Qualifications 

        * Demonstrated ability to interpret drawings and sketches
        * Demonstrated ability to apply computer aided design techniques
(using a computer display)
        * Experience building Cadence Allegro PCB symbols preferred
        * Strong detail orientation, with ability to reliaby fully check
own work
        * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the
ability to work with a variety of people
        * Patience
        * Ability to accept only firm design information prior to
proceeding. 

Physical Job Requirements 

* Overtime may be required
* Significant use of computer equipment (keyboard, mouse, monitor)
