Initially, I had display issues with Allegro 16.0 but once I updated the
display driver things stabilized and it seems to run fine now.

Here are the details of my PC Setup:

Operating System: Windows XP
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.20GHz
System Memory: 2.00GB
L2 Cache Size: 512MB

Graphics Card: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000
Bus: AGP 8X
Resolution: 1600x1200
Dedicated Video RAM: 256MB
Color Quality: Highest (32bit)

By no means is this the fastest and best machine you could buy today but it
work well with Allegro 16.0 and Pro-E Wildfire without skipping a beat.

It seems a High-End Graphics card with at least 256MB dedicated memory with at
least 2 GB System Memory does the trick. (Of course the more memory the
better.)

Also if you have Allegro 16.0 loaded somewhere you could check out the manual
"Allegro Platform System Requirements" in the documentation which will give you
lots of detail on the system and graphics card configurations that Cadence
recommends.
Hope this helps,

Hi

We've got NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT cards. They work well.

However, I'd still like to get other's comments on a post I sent to this group
on 24-Jul-07.

OpenGL is good, but it takes away a bit as well.

I discuss with hotline guy couple weeks ago and allegro use now opengl to
display.
Look at graphics cards with good support of opengl (maybe matrox?)

Hi All,

We are currently looking at new computers for Allegro 16.0. What has been the
experience of the forum with the new graphics in 16.0. We have tried a Sapphire
Radeon X1550 Series (512Mb) graphics card but we are not impressed with the
results. If the screen is busy then the system is very jerky.

What make/type of graphics card is recommended for 16.0?
