I'm happy we (the list folks) could help.
We give and take as we can and need to.
Again, it isn't that I think you would come back and
punch me (metaphorically speaking) if the symbol
didn't work, I have had trouble with symbols
before and if I give my cm the chance they will
give me what works for them.
And then it is THEIR fault if it doesn't work!
But I still end up with the problem...

Obviously, anything someone gives you, you should review for your own use
and is at your own risk.  There is no obligation, or worry, in doing so.  On
another list for another PCB system, people share symbols all the time, and
I have never heard anyone complain.  In fact, there is a guy/company who
will make any symbol you want for free for you.

I understand how to work with CMs.  Sometimes they are helpful, and
sometimes they are not.  We have come up with a few footprints of our own
for this, and we’ve made boards from some of them already.  There is more
than one “correct” answer to the problem, and I was interested in seeing
what others have come up with that perhaps we had not though of.

I did not see any answer to this so...
Check with your board assembly house.
This has been discussed many times before.
You need to keep them happy and they most likely
will have many good suggestions on how to create
your symbols so they get the best out of your
boards. Most, if not all, of us have been down
this road a number of times before.
I for one don't feel comfortable giving my symbols
to others as I have tested them, but not in YOUR
particular situation. I am sure others feel the same.
