[PCB_FORUM] Re: 15.7 on Vista 32...

Lmgrd is not run as a service (on my machine). It is an executable from the
command line or gui.

Hi Bill,

I am able to get "lmhostid -flexid" to return the proper USB ID. I am able
to put the USB key on another machine modify the license file to point to
that other machine, and I can bring up PCB Editor that way. But I can't the
license "tools" on the Vista machine to work...yet.

What do you mean by "run as administrator" with respect to a service? It is
setup for an automatic startup. Hum. Let me look into that...

Thanks,

Austin

Whatever version comes on the Cadence CD. I think it's 10.8.

Also, be sure to "run as administrator" (right click) when you start lmgrd.
The Aladdin drivers started right up.

I used the 15.7 lmgrd. I used the Aladdin drivers off of their website. No
issues.

Hi,

Someone else did report here that they had 15.7 running fine on Vista...and
that their installation used lmgrd. It would be good to know if another
version of lmgrd was used aside from the one that came with the standard
installation. Perhaps you're right about the need to use a later version of
the key driver. I hate this key stuff.

Regards,

Austin

SPB 15.7 was not supported on Vista. You might try obtaining the license
server portion from the 16.0 release where Vista
is supported. If you license via dongles, you need Vista compatible dongle
drivers which are not present in the 15.7 install.

Hi Mike,

In a standard, first time, Cadence installation, the pcbenv
directory path is created at "C:\pcbenv. UAC allows the
Cadence installer to create the directory, but UAC will
prevent you from changing any files in that directory.

I do install the pcbenv underneath a subdirectory, so I should be all set
there.
