Interesting that this should come up.
I was surprised to find this out also.
It was in 14.2 I think, or maybe not til 15.0.
It has not seemed to affect my performance, though.
Or if it has it is only minimal. Silk seems to
be batch the first time and then when you move
stuff around it tries to keep it "healed".
I wonder if you deleted everything from the autosilk
layer if it wouldn't stop the updates.
I seem to remember the ae telling me that once
it sees stuff on that layer it tries to keep it updated.
I have done no testing on that yet, though.
Anyone else have more info on this?

No, that was not discussed. The reason that I was waiting so long was
thought to be that Allegro was doing processing on Auto Silk. I thought
Auto Silk was a batch job, but it seems that that is incorrect.

So, by any chance did they say they were working
on a fix for it? Or do we need to take care of
it on every design?

Did you let Cadence know about this?

15.2. Turn off all classes, under Manufacture | silkscreen
I was waiting 2-3 minutes to return to idle after moving a part. After
changing the Ref des class to none, the rest were none already, the
delay to idle is almost instantly.
