Actually, the solution would not be as simple as having NFB Newsline content going into the Periodicles folder, because the News Stand application will not recognize them from there, and the Book Shelf won't find them either. What happens right now is that the NFB Newsline software puts all of its content in a folder called NFB NewsLine that it creates in the Books folder. On the other hand, when you get content from BookShare using the News Stand, a folder is created for each publication you subscribe to in the Periodicles folder. In addition, each issue you get is stored in its own folder inside the folder for the publication. Not only that, but it looks like the Daisy structure for NFB NewsLine content is not the same, as there are more files for each issue in the BookShare version.

I imagine this is why the folks at NFB NewsLine programmed their software the way they did, which will at least allow their content to be accessed through the Book Shelf.

Hope this doesn't confuse anyone too much.

I totally agree. I suspect that the reason for this is that most of the
other devices that Newsline syncs with are simpler DTB Players, e.g Stream
or Book Port Plus. The developers probably don't know about the file/folder structure of the Icon/BP, thus these go in with other books like they would on other devices. I am going to write Newsline to see if they could find a
way to send content to the News Stand, where it belongs.

I'm able to find them under unknown. Unfortunately that is exactly where
most all my reference books for work also go, and for some reason also some
.brf books.
However, I don't really want periodicals mixed in with my reference books
for work, nor my training books from work.
Periodicals should go in with other periodicals. I don't know why someone
would set programming to mix periodicals and books in the books or author
area.

I guess there's no way to change where they are placed?

Thanks,
Pamela

All, do the NFB Newsline periodicals have an assigned "author"? If they do, you may be able to locate them quickly under their putative authors .... If
they do not, you will find them under "unknown".

Pamela,
I think the question is about the NFB Newsline software on the PC, which
sends all of its papers to the Bookshelf. The only way to get around this
is to sort your bookshelf by date, see the options menu. There is no way
to get these into the News Stand, but sorting your Bookshelf by date should
at least let you find the newest papers easily.

Hello:

I'm not sure I understand, but it sounds like you are not downloading
them to the periodicals folder. If you do that, they will show up in
the the same place as the bookshare mags and newspapers. Why not try that?

The periodicals folder is in the library folder.

Is there any setting that can be changed to have the newspapers &
magazines from NFB NewsLine in your pocket be loaded to the
newspaper/magazine area on the Braille Plus, instead of being loaded
into
the option for books?

If you have several books loaded you have to scroll down through all of
them to find the newspapers & magazines to remove them every few days.
It would seem a much better location to have them load to the place
where BookShare magazines are loaded. At least for me I have fewer
newspapers & magazines loaded than books. It would sure make cleanup
easier.

Thanks,
Pamela
