Hi, Unless you really need to print on your trips, the icon would be totally useable. If you carry a laptop when you travel, do I assume you also carry a mini printer in case you need to print something? Faxing would be interesting, but I wonder how many times one would fax unless a signature were required when you could email instead. I know my sighted wife travels quite a bit with her laptop and I don't think I have ever heard her wish she could print or fax. The only time I saw her wanting to print is when she wanted to hand out some genealogy at a family reunion. She does carry a cannon lide scanner as it is a very thin scanner which fits very eaily into a laptop bag. A scanner would be nice for the icon, but I wonder how much power it would draw? There is a nice cannon printer one can get that will fit into a laptop bag, but it costs somewhere around $250. -----Original Message----- From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of pyyhkala@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, April 18, 2008 10:10 AM To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: Feature request Hi, We recently had a demonstration of the Icon in Boston at the VIBUG user group: http://www.vibug.org materials for last meeting here: http://drop.io/vibug12apr2008 and printing was also a requested feature that several people brought up in the group discussion. It would also be handy if the Icon had the ability to send faxes over the internet as part of the print drivers. This would be handy, for example, to fax ones boarding pass to a hotel using on-line check in. The question really would be for me does the Icon have enough capabilities, or will I still need to bring my laptop on short trips? If the icon had printing and faxing capabilities it would be all that much more ubiquitous avoiding the need to also carry a laptop in addition to a PDA.
