Hello Les and Michael,
I don't know anything about the Juice podcatcher software or what defaults it uses for determining the maximum number of files to grab when you add a new feed but the Icon and Braille Plus do have more sensible file limits in place by default. Whenever adding a new feed address I always check through what is marked for download and unmark whatever I don't want before letting it download new podcasts. My message wasn't as clear as it could have been about the ACB Radio replay feed address situation. Replay generally contains a file for every day of the week except when there is some problem on their end, as recently happened with a file. Maybe that was the Monday feed Michael didn't see, don't know. If you are only interested in the Main Menu program, then unmark all shows but the Wednesday program file each week and you will not get overloaded with programming you might not want. Hopefully in the near future they will find new hosts for that show and the normal feed addresses for Main Menu and Main Menu Live will start working again. Another option might be to use the web browser to go to acbradio.org and move down to the replay link, open it and directly download the Wednesday file from there without bothering with the rss program. I believe I have done this in the past but not sure if I did it on my Braille Plus or on my XP computer. You can always give it a try. Speaking of previewing rss podcasts marked for download, I always check out some of my podcast feeds after doing an update to eliminate files I am not interested in to save on unnecessary download wasted time. Feed sites that give good file names in the rss program like blind cool tech, Accessible World, and the multiple program Leo Laporte feed address, are ones I can generally tell which programs are of interest and which I can unmark because they are not of interest to me before downloading new podcasts.
Hope this helps
Richard Ehrler

Hi Michael,

I'm wondering if there are that many downloads, and they are
listed by day,
couldn't one mark the download desired and ignore the others? I
don't
think, by default, the Icon would mark more than 25 of the most
recent
downloads anyway. Just a thought, although your point is
well-taken.

Les

Hello Listers,

This note is in response to a message by Richard Ehrler, the
original of
which I unfortunately deleted. While Richard's message was
helpful, I urge
a little bit of caution when it comes to the ACB Radio feed he
sited.

Richard's message reads in part:

"As far as Main Menu goes, you
can still hear the program but you need to use the ACB Radio
replay feed
address for the Wednesday replay because they don't seem to be
posting to
the Main Menu and Main Menu Live feed addresses right now. And
the Wednesday
replay is indeed the correct file because they post the Tuesday
night show
as a Wednesday replay file. The feed address for replay is:

http://www.acbradio.org/news/xml/podcast.php?pgm=replay

These replay files are much larger than just the Main Menu and
Live program
files because they contain other programs after Main Menu airs.
They range
in play time from around three hours to as much as five hours per
day but
the Main Menu and Live program is generally just the first two
hours of the
file."

When I pasted Richard's suggested feed into my Juice podcatcher,
I
discovered some time into the download process that not only was
I getting
Wednesday's feeds but, rather, feeds from every day of the week
except
Monday. Juice notified me that I had some 131 downloads in the
queue,
something which rarely, if ever, happens under normal
circumstances.

This is not intended as criticism, just a word of caution. The
feed cited
in the posting is for every day of the week's programs except
Monday.

My best to all of you from rainy, dreary Vienna, Austria,

Mike
