I hope it does not come to that as I have some important stuff that the
backup has saved. contacts and the like.

Hi.
Oh, no wonder it didn't solve your problem.
Re-flash one more time, and do your bookshare without restoreing the
backup. If it works, your backup contains what ever it is that prevented
bookshare downloads.

Yes, the wireless was turned on. I did not have to set up the network
again because I created a backup before I reflashed and once I flashed I
restored the backup I originally created.

Hello:
I am pasting some of your message because when you can't go to Google, I
am
wondering is your wireless turned on?
I went with my browser to the web and I received the message "alert
message page www.google.com could not be found
I don't know how you access the web weither hard line or wireless but
after
flashing the unit, did you setup the network again?

Hi, Well as suggested, I reflashed my unit. I thought at the
time that it went off without a hitch. So, I went in to the search for
books
and tried again to download my book "rising Tides" by Nora Roberts. I
was
again unsuccessful. So I wondered if it may be an issue with the
bookshare
account. I went with my browser to the web and I received the message
"alert
message page www.google.com could not be found, press ok to close." So I
went to the options menu figuring that for some reason something was up
with
Google. I went to "go to url" and typed in www.bookshare.org. Again I
received the same message. So it appears that now my web browser is
messed
up. I wonder if a file that deleted in an effort to delete temp files
was
actually important? Any advice is appreciated. Also, I want to go in and
look at the bookshare info that I have on the Icon, How do I access this
information? I don't see an option to edit user name etc in the library
menu.

The back up will not back up your current problem, and yes it will back
up
your contacts. The only thing the back up will back up in the way of
the
library menu is the periodicals you are subscribed to, your Bookshare
username and password, and your book catalog information.

Ok I have a couple of questions. First, when I do a backup will it
back
up whatever is causing my current problem? Also will I be backing up
my
contacts or do I need to find a way to save all my contacts somewhere
else.

No problem. First, remember to do a back up. I'll actually give you
a
bit easier way to do the reflash anyhow. First, you're going to do
the
reboot command (Star + Pound + Program 1). As soon as you hear your
Icon say"restarting" press and hold the Pound key. Continue to hold
it
until you feel a vibration. This means that the reflash process has
begun and you can let go. you'll actually get two short vibrations
followed by a third, and a couple of minutes later, you'll get one
more
vibration letting you know the Icon is restarting. When you get to
the
Applications Menu, you can restore your back up.
Let me know if you have any problems.

I guess I will need to reflash then. I truly hate that but ok. I have
tried other books and have gotten the same result. Plus, another Icon
user that I know here locally downloaded the same book with no
trouble.
I do not remember how to reflash. Any help would be appreciated.

I would think the book would be available in daisy, but you might
check
with Bookshare itself by actually going to the website. Make sure
the
book is available in Daisy, and not just BRF. If the book is
available
only in BRF, you can't download it with the Internet Book Search.
In
adition, once you have a problem downloading a book, you can't
download
any more until you have reset your unit. So, reset your unit, then
instead of Rising Tides, try something else. If that is not working
for you, I am guessing you will indeed need to do a reflash as there
would be something up with your Internet Book Search program.

Hi,
I tried what was suggested about the downloading of the book and
still
no go. I
waited about 5 minutes, returned to the bookshelf and the book had
not
downloaded.
