As usual, the excuse you are going to get is that the Braille version has to cost more and get less attention because they can't sell as many so it isn't as important as the speech only version. Its' the same reason that they aren't in any big hurry to get Braille display drivers into these units. If they really wanted to do it it could have been done at least by the time this release came out; considering this is the first release since October. Want to know why) The braille plus was not in development as long as icon. I think they're doing an excellent job considering they're, what, a year apart? Also, you didn't have to get the braille plus. and 10 gigs makes no difference at all to me--if the upgrade is available for the brailleplus I'll get it, but otherwise I do not mind. > ----- Original Message ----- >From: "denise avant" <dravant@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >To: <icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Date sent: Sun, 6 Apr 2008 01:02:08 -0500 >Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: 40gb hd? >hello, >if this sounds confrontational, i really do not mean it to be. jenny said in >her message that the upgrade costs does or shall i say she does not think it >applies to the braille plus users though i'm making the choice to spend my >dollars elsewhere, i wonder why the braille users of this unit seem to lag >behind everything having to do with this product, whether its the docking >station, braille keyboard shortcuts and now the hard drive. we're always >having to wait. >-----Original Message----- >From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >[mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Chase Crispin >Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 9:33 PM >To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: 40gb hd? >Please correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know, LevelStar wants to >keep the price the same, no matter how tiny or gigantic the hard drive is. >Chase Crispin >Administrator and moderator of the Blind Mobile Tech (BMT) blog, and soon to >be website! >Blog: >http://blindmobiletech.blogspot.com/ > APH training video feed: >http://www.youtube.com/BraillePlus/ >Note: Most RSS readers and Podcatchers don't support this type of feed. >You can try, however, you just might have to open the page in Internet >Explorer and see what happens. > e-mail: >chase.crispin@xxxxxxxxx >-----Original Message----- >From: icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >[mailto:icon-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Rob Lambert >Sent: Saturday, April 05, 2008 7:18 PM >To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: 40gb hd? >I'm not sure if this has been responded to yet (as I usually don't read all >the stuff that comes in; there's too much of it) but I checked the website >and the 40 GB HDD Icon still sells for $1,395. >---------------------------------------- >> From: llumpkin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >> To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >> Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: 40gb hd? >> Date: Sat, 5 Apr 2008 15:35:49 -0500 >> Jenny, Do you know the cost of this to the customer?
