Because the attached plan has just been discussed, I will make an
alternative motion that we adopt a two-step V6.2 and V7.0 release schedule
patterned after the rigorous process. The plan includes a new item 4 for
updated references to tables and figures, as needed. If needed, the plan
would also include adding new "chapters" and chapter renumbering.
The V 6.2 Specification technical, parser, and editorial impacts are listed
and minimal (ONLY three new IBIS-AMI parameters). Besides the new AMI
parameters, the parser improvements would only add a few more checks and
would be covered by existing funds. Therefore the formal Version 6.2
approval process and parser update can go quickly and in parallel with
closing out BIRDs targeted to V7.0.
That clears the deck for the major V7.0 release. New ibischk7 parser
funding is required but would have fewer additions.
I am open to moving a few more BIRDs into V6.2 (e.g., 147.6, 158.3) only
approved, but we have to discuss this.
The Editorial committee can propose new BIRDs for a 7.0 release (e.g.,
rewriting the IBIS-AMI section by adding tables, equations and flow charts,
re-doing or adding new figures, etc.) All such changes must go through a
BIRD process for formal review and vetting. However, no work should be done
on a V7.0 release until all the BIRDs to be included have been approved.
