like what?  From the terminal it wants a message, from a script
shouldn't it just go?  (Doesn't it check to see if its connected to a
terminal and then if it is it goes interactive, if it is not it should
go?)

Of course, there is something wrong, so clearly I'm misunderstanding
something simple.
