[huskerlug] msec, shorewall and KMail's address book...

Hey folks, I need some advice.
I'm running MKD 9.1 with KDE as the desktop.
I have msec set for standard internet security.
After msec's cron job fires I find it impossible to open the=20
address book in kmail. =20
If I happen to log out of KDE while that condition is present=20
I cannot log back in. KDE hangs on in its first icon=20
before reaching the globe icon. After a while KDE fails to=20
intialize and the startup splash screen stays up and the=20
hourglass disappears. I have to do a Ctrl+Alt_Bkspace to=20
close the xserver.
Using MCC and resetting msec doesn't free up the address=20
book. But, if I open a terminal, su to root and issue=20
"shorewall clear" the addressbook pops up.=20
I would rather use just msec, but after it's cron job fires=20
the address book will always hang when you try to open it or=20
select an address from within KMail when creating a new=20
message.=20
I've considered shutting down the IPTABLES service but that=20
is too drastic a measure. =20
Uninstalling shorewall doesn't help either.
If I have FireStarter installed and click the "Stop Firewall"=20
button Address book will pop up, so this is the method I am=20
presently using.
Any suggestions?
