What exactly are you looking to do?

The census dept. provides datasets for generating maps.  It is also
sufficient for geocoding address.  It's acrurate to a millionth of a
degree for latitude and longitude anywhere is the US.  It also contains
coordinates for a large number of landmarks, schools, airports, etc.
