1) He can't register the copy of XP he is using. (Pirate?)
2) He keeps blowing away the XP install. IF the Linux root=20
password is kept from him he will only be able to crash his=20
own account. A bkup copy of it could be placed in another=20
directory to which he has no access permission, allowing for=20
easy restoration when he messes up again.
3) They are on dialup, and XP hogs a dialup bandwidth=20
phoning home all the personal demographic data MS is=20
tracking in their demographic database (To sell.)
4) Even Microsoft recommends NOT connecting a Windows box=20
directly to the Internet, and they say the firewall that=20
comes with XP is not good enough. Anti-virus apps work for=20
you ONLY if you were lucky enough not to be in the first=20
couple of million that get infected before the anti-dote is=20
published.
5) It's a whole lot MORE economical, and if it's installed=20
at HLUG's installfest it is truely free!
6) While stability is not as great an issue with W2K & XP,=20
it is still an issue, since Linux with ReiserFS or EXT3 is=20
more reliable. But, both W2K and XP waste time with phantom=20
reboots, which replace the BSOD and lockup, most of the=20
time. (Both still have crash counters in the register.)
7) It's be easier to use PlayStation2 for games, and Linux=20
to learn the Joy of Programming and to expand the mind, not=20
exercise the finger.

Wearing sackcloth and ashes I rant: "Microsoft's end is near,=20
REPENT!" ;-)
