If you have a mail server, for instance, it's a *very* good idea to have a virus
scanner on it. Not necessarily for the few linux viruses, but for the windows
viruses that will otherwise be sent on their way to one or more windows
machines .
Another scenario is if you are using samba. Just because your linux machine
isn't harmed by that file with the virus attached, the windows machine that
grabs it from you is.
I think it's a great idea to put a virus scanner on your linux machines. Since
linux generally isn't targeted, it makes a good platform to do the scanning on.
Some viruses are designed to disable anti-virus software. I'd like to see a
windows virus disable the anti-virus software running on a host it can't affect
:)
