That's what I'm doing with my Shuttle SN41G2 in the off time from LAN
Parties...but under Windows. Not sure about how well the sound and =
Ethernet
on the nforce2 chipset are supported under Linux and don't have time to =
mess
with winex for BF1942. :)
Ok AS small form factor goes the later shuttles are about the best, the
older shuttle (mainly the ones without heat pipes) are loud, fine for =
action
packed movies but no so good for quiet parts. I have 2 Shuttle SV25s =
they
where an engineering nightmare...the SN41G2 is much better, the SK41G is
about the same just different chipset...which unless you are looking for =
a
serious gaming machine like I was it's not worth the extra $$$ IMO.
MSI make a nice one

And the Mini-ITX stuff is cool

The reason why I asked is that, of lately, I've been finding small form
factor computers everywhere on the internet. These things are so cute, =
but
pack a punch. There is the Panda PC
(http://www.norhtec.com/products/panda/index.html)
which is my favourite. 1Ghz processor with 256 MB DDR RAM DVD/CDRW and =
can
run of AC or DC power. It's got TV out, ethernet card and some other
goodies. A close second is the Shuttle
(http://www.directron.com/sk41g.html). The Shuttle can run a regular =
Athlon
or P4 chip but, I think, that the panda consumes less power due to the =
VIA
chip. And, on either of the 2, install Gentoo and it'll boot up in no =
time,
=3D). (I bet debian also boot up quick but I don't know. I just know =
that I
was blown away by the boot time of Gentoo)
I just think it would be kewl to be able to watch DVDs on my TV, listen =
to
MP3s through my soudns system as well as be able to watch
AVI/MWA/DIVX;)/DIVX/etc all on the same machine. I can just donwload
everything to that machine and have it be my little jukebox in my living
room. Of course it comes with a price tag that makes me think twice =
about
it, and is the reason why I haven't dished out the cash yet. But having =
a
cheap DVD player with an el-cheapo PC to play MP3s still doesn't let me =
play
all the other fun video formats that are out on the net these days.
