[huskerlug] Re: TV-out

The reason why I asked is that, of lately, I've been finding small form factor
computers everywhere on the internet. These things are so cute, but pack a
punch. There is the Panda PC (http://www.norhtec.com/products/panda/index.html)
which is my favourite. 1Ghz processor with 256 MB DDR RAM DVD/CDRW and can run
of AC or DC power. It's got TV out, ethernet card and some other goodies. A
close second is the Shuttle (http://www.directron.com/sk41g.html). The Shuttle
can run a regular Athlon or P4 chip but, I think, that the panda consumes less
power due to the VIA chip. And, on either of the 2, install Gentoo and it'll
boot up in no time, =). (I bet debian also boot up quick but I don't know. I
just know that I was blown away by the boot time of Gentoo)

I just think it would be kewl to be able to watch DVDs on my TV, listen to MP3s
through my soudns system as well as be able to watch AVI/MWA/DIVX;)/DIVX/etc all
on the same machine. I can just donwload everything to that machine and have it
be my little jukebox in my living room. Of course it comes with a price tag
that makes me think twice about it, and is the reason why I haven't dished out
the cash yet. But having a cheap DVD player with an el-cheapo PC to play MP3s
still doesn't let me play all the other fun video formats that are out on the
net these days.
