Thanks to Cesar, Steve, and Carl--the ide=nodma argument at boot time
fixed that problem.
However, now RH7.2 doesn't see the CDROM drive for installation. Nothing
strange here--it's an ATAPI on /dev/hdc according to Slackware. Is there
a kernal parameter at boot time for that?
