[huskerlug] Re: Murder mystery?

Being sarcastic about the backups, as the family computer guru and lately a=
n online resource for a bunch of aspiring writers, I keep harping about bac=
kups, and I seem to be getting through to few people. Horror stories about =
losing a years work in a hard drive crash, tend to make you think twice. It=
's another thing that M$ screwed up. It should be built in and simple, but =
it's not. M$ makes it really hard by scattering important files and setting=
s all over the hard disk, so it's almost impossible to find them all. I jus=
t reinstalled Windows and as usual, I managed to forget a few or forget whe=
re I put the damn backups. Oh well, I need to stay up on all the stupid idi=
osyncracies in Word anyway.

On the freezer technique, I think it's more a mechanical thing. The cold re=
duces the tolerances or something so everything is back in the right place =
to work. As I said, I'm not sure. --gk
