Not for remote exploits.  And there have been plenty of those in the software 
that runs on Linux or any unix (Wu-ftpd, sendmail, bind, telnetd, OpenSSH, 
Apache, OpenSSL, Samba, pro-ftp, the list goes on).  All of these services 
have had remote exploits (many of them multiple times) that required no help 
from a local user.
