You may have a later ReiserFS than I do and that could be part of
my problem, at least in my manual for 7.3, it never wanted people to hit the
off button to turn off the computer but go through the standard shut down
procedures. I find off/reset has had upleasant effects on my system, but not
wiping out the entire system, unless you don't give ReiserFS a chance to clean
up it's act after one shut down and then follow it immediately by another.
