Wed morn, July 19
Hi Folks,
The next auction is tonight at 6 PM. The most recent market report is ready.
Please go here: <www.homerproduceauction.com>
or <http://www.brightdsl.net/~fwo>
Once there, click on the link "Most recent market report".
Check out our hints on evaluating corn at the Produce Auction (or anywhere).
It's on the bottom of the Market Report.
As of 6 AM this morning we are expecting at least 85 bags of sweet corn for
tonight's auction. Both growers and buyers can call my cell at noon for an
update.
We were severely "flooded" with corn on Monday, and the price collapsed, but
don't expect that to necessarily repeat.
In the case of last Monday, we had 1600 dozen ears, combined with 95 degree
heat, and the following day was looking to be an overheated Tuesday.
This 1600 dozen was far more corn than Mt Hope had on their market report that
same day. Their price held OK.
Additionally, some regular buyers shyed away as the previous auction, Fri, we
had offended them with $26-$28 corn.
Tonight, Wed, we will probably have less corn, we are looking at much more
pleasant weather. The price (and the weather) will probably be somewhere
around "normal".
Grower/buyer number #1000 is now used for contributions to needful causes or
people needing extra help. For at least the rest of July this is going to be
the Joe Keim family of 17 children who have lost their father.
So, if you want to contribute either tag something with this number or bid on
something with this number.

Kindest regards,
