Hello All,
We started talking and working on the Flight Center plan over two years ago,
and we are now months away from breaking ground. Let me give you an update,
and this begins with a thank you to our members who pulled together to donate
or pledge between now and through the end of 2020 just over $171K. This
commitment opened doors for us as we talked to civic, business, and foundation
leaders whose first question across the board was “How much have you raised
internally?” The answer impressed everyone we contacted, and made their
decision to donate as well much easier. We have met our $250K campaign fund
raising goal, and are now we are getting ready to manage the construction
process.
The start of construction date may change as we talk to contractors, but as it
stands today we will break ground October 16th with the strategy being to
minimize interference with airport activity. The construction quote packages
will go out to contractors in May and by the start of summer we will know who
will do the work for us. The completion date will depend upon the contractor,
but it should be just after the first of 2018.
All of the detailed questions, e.g., kitchen counter material, fixtures, wall
colors, etc. are future decisions. What we do know is we will have a modern
facility, air conditioned office, on demand hot water, deck on the south side
of the building, professional grill, all new doors and windows, walls,
lighting, floors, kitchen, and new metal roof.
More to come later as the details are known, thank you for your support and
involvement.
