Hi, Keith here in Amherst, NYGot a quick (25 minute) tune over the band before heading out for my tasks. From 1440Z to 1455Z on 15 August I copied the following:
28.2047 KE4TWI 28.2140 N4PAL 28.2154 KD5CKP 28.2224 N4QDK 28.2255 W2DLL (Barely, 319 in local noise!) 28.2380 KB2SEO - Backscatter, I believe. MUCH stronger on the vertical 28.2432 W5BUB 28.2450 N8RT 28.2464 KI4LEV 28.2510 WA4GEH 28.2659 NC4SW 28.2717 W4TIY 28.2760 K4FUM 28.2760 K4UKB 28.2840 K2XG 28.2886 WJ5ONoticeable absentees were the Florida powerhouses, I expected to hear W3HH and KF4MS, they're usually all I hear on poor days, but on a decent day...Nothing, strange.
I was hearing some of the beacons far better on the vertical, this indicates a higher level of low-angle signals and the possibility of backscatter. I really need the beam but more than that I need the TIME to build it. I have 3 partly built projects in the garage but the medical issues with my accident and recovery seem to always get in the way. Maybe this fall, we will see...
I will be back at the rig in the late afternoon, I'll post what I hear then. 73, Keith, WB2VUO Amherst, NY: Grid FN02ox ____________________ The HFbeacons mailing list information: //www.freelists.org/webpage/hfbeacons
