[HUG ] Re: tripods

Absolutely right. Provided, of course, that your objective is art. If your doing product photography, or some other commercial work, the situation may be different.

My I suggest that printing processes over the years photography has been around have not been judged one from another by dpi's or other forms of

An Albumen print is not better or worse than a Collodion because of
resolution specs. You look at the print on the wall. Its not all about
looking at them with magnifiers.

A Bromoil print is not better than a Carbro because of resolution specs. An Argentotype Ferricitrate print is not better than a Kallitype print
because of resolution specs
A Platinum print is not better than a Palladiotype because of resolution
specs.
A Gum Bichromate print is not better than a Carbon Print because of
resolution specs.
An Fresson print is not better or worse than an Oil print because of
resolution specs.
A Gum-Ozotype print is not better than a silver gelatin print because of
resolution specs.

Silver gelatin prints have unusually high specs for when you look at them
with a loupe. Some have higher. Most are lower.
Big deal!
There are a handful of normally known to be superior processes than silver
gelatin with lower such specs.
We need to climb out from behind our loupes and look at the picture as a
whole.
Everyone else is.
The collectors with the money.
The gallery owners and Museum runners with the taste.
