[HUG ] Re: tripods

My point was that there is a difference in the final product, It may be slight but a difference non the less. BTW I was talking to a friend who works in a lab today about lightjet prints, it's interesting to note that Kodak uses 316dpi and durst is using 400dpi. even an Epson 1400 prints at 720dpi, giving you better quality.

I went to an exhibit last week that included both lightjet and inkjet (giclée) prints, and I would say that your conclusion is not necessarily accurate. The lightjet prints were a little bit nicer than the inkjets. They had smoother tonality, and better colour gradation. The sharpness was not noticeably different.
There were also a few C prints that were even nicer.

This particular exhibit provided a good comparison because some shots were printed using both technologies, albeit in different sizes.

I think that the Epson uses dithering, which means that the resolution numbers should only be compared to other Epson printers of the same generation. I don't know how you would compare 720 dpi spread out over 8 or more ink nozzles with 316 dpi from 3 lasers.
