[HUG ] Re: swc for sale?

Hi Frank,

I have to agree with you on the fact that the focal length of the lens does not change but 99% of people don't know what the angle of view is, besides it is not marked on a lens but focal length is. The conversion factor for digital cameras is designed for focal length equivalents in regards to the angle of view. I don't think it needs to be said that "a 38mm biogon used on a 645 sensor gives you the same angle of view as a 42mm biogon used with a 645 A16 film back" when saying "a 38mm biogon used on a 645 sensor gives you a 42mm biogon" is simpler and easier to understand for most people.

Regards
Franc

I never could understand why anyone would re-state the effective Fl of a
lens because their sensor is not something else....

Do we say..... Hasselblad 80mm lens on a 6x6 negative is the same as a 50mm
lens? No. ( we may make the comparison, but it is never stated nor do I
ever remember it being used in this way....)

A 38mm Biogon is ALWAYS 38m. Nothing changes that. Nothing.

Try this, if you are trying to make a comparison....

The 38 Biogon in an SWC has the same angle of view using my Phase One 645
back as a 42mm Lens on 6x6.

Then again, one is square and the other is rectangular, further making this
confusing.......and even more obtuse......

I guess my Engineering background is showing.......

The 645 sensor with a 1.1 to 1 crop
factor gives me a 42mm biogon
