Thanks Tom. What a beautiful trail the "hut to hut" trek must be. I can only 
imagine and hope some day to do it.

This trail is right on the lake (as opposed to 4,000' above the lake) and is 
one of the most beautiful I've ever been on. The shots were all taken with a 
Leica M8; all but 2 (the BW view of Emerald Bay from the top (35mm) and the 
small waterfall (50mm)) were taken with the 21 (effective 28 on the M8).
Both the 1DSIII and M8 are a real pleasure to use and the outputs are 
remarkable.

Spectacular pictures from one of the most beautiful places in the world!

I drove through Lake Tahoe when I crossed USA by car back in 91'. I did not 
know about this track back then.  Looks just fantastic.  Further:  
Congratulations with your 1Ds III.  I bought mine back in April - in 
Singapore.  My 1Ds II is sold, - the one that rolled out of my car... 

For those interested:  There is a similar sort of track one can do in the 
Norwegian mountains.  Link to the Norwegian Trekking Organisation here:

in 2000  by 'walking from hut to hut' as it is called, and we met the then 
General Secretary of UN Kofi Annan and his wife Nane Maria - he is a Member of 
Honnor of the NTF  - at one of the huts, as if he was just another ordinary 
guy.  He was very pleasant and could a few words Norwegian, even.
