[HUG ] Re: The list is so silent ... Why ?

No need to buy a Bronica. Nowadays these things are given away free of charge.

There is not such thing as renting a Hassy with the intent of buying a Bronica. Warning, handling a Hasselblad can be hazardous to you financial well-being!

Sirus Glass

Hello, Johannes...

I hope you enjoyed Switzerland.

I can add a little bit of noise to the list... I am new here, being a
novice Hasselblad user. My father is a serious photographer, so I
spent quite a portion of my earliest years in front of Hasselblad
bodies and Zeiss lenses. However, I had never used either, being
content until this year with my old Pentax K1000.

That all changed last month, when my wife took me and our seven month
old son on a trip to New York City. For no particular reason (perhaps
wanting to give him a little taste of the same childhood I had) we
decided to rent a 501CM body, 80 mm f/2.8 and 180 mm f/4 lenses, a
light meter and a couple of backs while we were there, to record the
occasion and broaden our photographic experience a little bit. I
half-seriously thought to myself that if we enjoyed the medium format
gear, then perhaps I would try to find a used Bronica SQ-B kit for
$300 or so.

Ha! What a ridiculous idea! I'm sure you can tell what happened
next... despite our best intentions, we were bitten by some kind of
bug. Very shortly after returning home, all financial considerations
were ignored and we spent somewhat more than $300 on a used 501C, 80
mm and 250 mm lenses, and never really stopped to consider any Bronica
gear.

Suffice to say that our boy is now doomed to spending many years
having Zeiss glass trained on him just as I did, and I have become
convinced that there needs to be some sort of government warning fixed
to Hasselblad cameras, just like there are on packets of cigarettes.

Cheers,
Gary.
