[HUG ] Re: Shutter (2008)

Dear Nephew Mark,

My thanks for the advice on the flash units. I have tried hauling a
studio flash to an event and pointing it up to the ceiling but the results
were not worth the effort. The suggestion of a servant with a flash unit on
a stick is a good one - Igor is quite controllable during the dry season and
he can put the flash batteries and the radio receiver in the pockets of his
photo vest and wander under direction to provide a back or side light. I
shall test him out at a sword fight to see if the optical effect is
pleasing.

On the subject of the motion picture SOUND OF MUSIC....if you
resisted seeing it for 43 years, why did you falter. Another 27 years of
avoiding it and you could have completed your threescore and ten and
shuffled off this mortal clean. Now you have to repent like the rest of us.
In my own defense, I was compelled to see it with my cousin Suzanne in Salt
Lake City in 1965. I had a crush on Suzanne's roommate at boarding school
and was stuck with buying three cinema tickets plus chocolate bars and
whatever else they wanted. I got my revenge later - I forced her to see THE
GREAT RACE with Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis and fell madly in love with
Natalie Wood for my troubles.

The Austro Hungarian Navy did well on occasion. They showed the
Italians where the bear sat in the buckwheat at Lissa and maintained a good
small dreadnought fleet and torpedo boats as well as Danube monitors. And
their Skoda mobile artillery was really a wonderful system. They even
managed to fight at the Dardanelles and sink a British monitor with land
artillery. I believe in recent years the outlying provinces ( Croatia,
Montenegro, Slovenia, Bohemia) have been engaged in their own little wars
but as soon as they can be brought back under proper control this should be
solved. I am not sure who is eligible Kaiser or Kaiserin at present, but I
am prepared to bet they would be better value than the current
administrations of half a dozen countries....

Uncle Dick

Note: not one mention of a Hasselblad part in this post - so here goes: WTB
- 70 mm CR1.5 filter for my new 150mm F lens. I am also looking for a
coupling attachment that will let me sling the B50 of an 80mm F lens to a
new model Pro Shade. I am prepared to pay without quibbling but be kind to
me or I'll make up terrible stories about you on the list....remember what
happened to Nephew Mark - he had to leave Seattle and seek refuge in New
York. Joanna Simpson is still hiding out in the UK. Beware.
