Shutter (2008) has come out tonight.
I go to a lot of movies in Manhattan its my main thing and I've seen the
trailer to this flick several times. I don't have a TV so trailers are the
commercials I memorize.
There is an extensive use of a Hasselblad in this movie.
For the age old craft of ghost photography.
One of the little square Hassy brochures is devoted to it.
Square format is preferred for ghost photography.
They just come out better. No one knows why. Its a phenomenon.
Its a genre just like underwater photography or sky diving photography or
weddings.
Ghost photography. They had a better name for it and everything.
I think just shoot long exposures on a tripod everybody's bound to move a
bit and become ghostlike enough for me. You can see their auras and
everything. Mixed light sources make for strange areas in the time warp
continuum.
I'm going to see this tonight. Will report back how bad it is.
I anticipate being able to sit thought the whole thing and not walk out in
boredom and disgust. If its at least that good I'll be ok with it.
Why they thought a Hasselblad would be the classic ghost camera I find
annoying yet interesting. The decision made by an art director who liked the
way the camera looked is my thought.
Its a remake of a Thai which I think I saw. As I see every film every made
by anybody anywhere.
Directed by Masayuki Ochiai probably the guy shot who shot the original in
the fist place. Only this time with American actors and no subtitles
necessary so people will come see it. Other than me.
Last night I saw a remake of a German film I saw with the same German
director only this time with American actors.
Funny Games.
I"d seen the original German version 6 years ago.
This version is terrible. But then so was the first one.
I walked out in the middle of this one.
That's how bad it was.
Asked for my 13 bucks back.
Game them back their Milk Duds. And Duck tape.
