It is not 'optical problems' as such that is the reason for that Hasselblad is
not recommending the SWC to be used together with digital backs. It is the
effect of the steep angle of which light hits the sensor at the edges. This
was not a problem with film. Even at steep angles the light rays went through
the plastic film and was picked up by the light sensitive emulsion/particles.
Light hitting a digital sensor at a steep angle is 1)not picked up of the pixel
at all, resulting in vignetting, and/or is creating weird color effects like
the 'Italian Flag' or 2)'purple color casts' at the corners and a combination
of the two. This is due to that the pixels are 'hidden' in wells that will not
allow light rays to hit the pixels at these steep angles. or will only allow
light with a very high wave frequency to hit the pixel.
