On this thread...I have an TX-1 (the Fuji version) and use it. Took some
snaps of the storm last night!
One consideration: Hasselblad made it a rule that their agents are not
allowed to touch the TX-1 or TX-2 cameras in countries where the X-pan
was sold. Not just warranty service, but even service people pay for. I
should check if this is still current - my guess is it is, although
pretty outrageous for a dead system.
I used an independent repairer for when the rangefinder went out a bit
(early ones had this problem), but still... Original models could get an
upgrade too (eg improve their 'modest' longest B speed), but not if you
have a TX.
The optical quality is good, but don't expect 6x17 quality. Usual rules
about size of enlargements apply. One advantage is the 35mm film, which
makes THAT part of it easy anyway. The rest is achievable, as noted.
The automation and small size make it VERY usable as a P&S almost. Could
be great for bike racing action sort of stuff.
Built like a brick, but nice.
I think the second versions (X-pan II, TX-2) have worthwhile
improvements, but there will still be a premium and don't make any
difference to the result (unless you want longer B settings).
The 30 mm lens is not easy to find, but most of them seem to be in very
good condition...that should give pause for thought as many were not
overly used. The 45 is a little ripper of a lens anyway (read LITTLE,
compared to a 45 mm giving the same width of neg on 120).
