[HUG ] Re: IMG: Yosemite and Sam

Thanks Mark. I'll have to go back! :-)
I used red to darken the sky which come to think of it there really wasn't that
much of it...; didn't really think about the green. My bad.
But the rocks were light and lightening up the green may have reduced the
contrast between the rock and the trees.
Like I said, I'll just have to go back and do over. Bummer ;-)
Thanks for the input. Much appreciated,
Bob

Which one?

All the HV shots were Ilford FP4. I think I used a red filter which would have
darkened the greens, yes?

They were scanned in as raw, which was a bit weird as when I opened them in CS3
Camera Raw, they were negatives! So I did little to no adjustment in Camera
Raw. When I brought them into CS3, they were still negative!!

So I just used Image->Adjustments->Inverse and viola a positive!

So I guess the leaves are dark from the red filter...

Bob

I hold off using a red if thereʼs that much foliage in the shot close enough in
and big as it goes black and takes away from the impact of the shot. Try dark
green! The opposite!
Darkens the sky a whole lot and you can darken it more later lots of clouds
coming out you never say but lightens the foliage in a very pleasant way and
looks relatively realistic.

I only use red if the green foliage is far far away and small so when it goes
black no one notices.
Orange for a little bigger.

But green, dark green, light green or yellow green really works for me as this
is not a consideration.
And you can even get people into the shot....
And THEY look ok.
